What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a learning difference which can affect phonological processing (the processing of sounds in speech), working memory, sequencing and, at times, organisation and timekeeping.
These difficulties can impact on literacy and learning. It is independent of a person’s intelligence and is also associated with positive characteristics such as holistic thinking, the ability to ‘see the bigger picture’. Although dyslexia is ‘lifelong’, there are many strategies that can help to achieve his/her full potential. Specialist dyslexia intervention can make a huge difference.
Understanding dyslexia can help you or your child to develop strategies and improve confidence.
