1:1 Tuition
It is usually best to have an assessment prior to starting 1:1 tuition because a teaching plan can be set out based on strengths and relative areas of weakness.
I aim to make 1:1 tuition enjoyable and student-focused based on each person's likes and interests.
I am trained in using a variety of different teaching methods and approaches suited for any age. For children I normally use the Dyslexia Institute Literacy Programme, which is a tried and tested phonics-based systematic multisensory teaching programme. This is also backed up with a variety of literacy exercises based on the needs of the individual.
For older children or adults, I often use a computer based multisensory phonics programme called 'Units of Sound'.
I teach exam techniques and extended writing exercises that help prepare for GCSEs and A Levels.
Students at university benefit from a variety of study skills techniques to enhance independent learning, which include:
- essay planning
- organisation and timekeeping
- exam techniques
- referencing
- reading for revision
